It all started here, between the coppiced woodland and the lake, in this little corner of Limone sul Garda which was once no more than a family small-holding. It was “Giannino” Risatti who worked tirelessly, year after year, to transform this allotment into a unique terraced garden – a living monument to his passion for citrus trees.
Where it all began
Commitment to caring for the Giardino Risatti in every bottle

Lemon, lime, citron, bitter orange, mandarin, orange, bergamot, kumquat and grapefruit trees, surrounded by olive and walnut trees and aromatic herbs A feast for all the senses, a Garden of Eden where every tree is seen as Giannino’s beloved child, part of the local landscape with its own story to tell.
Limone sul Garda
Only the gardens of Limone sul Garda could produce Frutto del Garda.
In the late Middle Ages, the much-prized citrus fruits from Limone sul Garda were carried across the Alps to add some Mediterranean warmth to the tables of noble families throughout Europe, even reaching as far as the Russian Tsar. Today, the unique fruit grown in our gardens continues to serve as a representative for this hidden paradise, nestled between the mountains and lake. A place where dreamy views, oldfashioned traditions, unmistakeable flavours and ancient aromas come together.
Like the fascinating threads of an ancient tapestry
the lemon houses shape and beautify our little town
So much more than mere fruit trees. The lemon houses of Limone sul Garda are unique formations, almost architectural as well as productive. They are the tangible remnants of an historic way of life and the surrounding community. It should be no surprise, therefore, that we often refer to these unusual hothouses as our “gardens”, domesticating them and emphasising their ability to surprise and fascinate. These trees link the past to the present, reflected in the blue waters of Lake Garda.
Sip by sip, we’ll help you to discover the Mediterranean in the Alps, where the Spirit of Lake Garda dwells!
